Amy Jones Achieves 1,500 T20I Runs Milestone

In July 2024, during a T20 International match against New Zealand, England's wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones surpassed 1,500 runs in T20I cricket, becoming the seventh English player to reach this milestone. She required 15 runs to achieve this feat and scored 19 runs before being dismissed through a run-out. Jones has been a key player for England since her T20I debut in 2013, known for her finishing abilities lower down the order. She has also been instrumental in England's batting lineup, with her highest score in the format being 89 off 52 balls against Pakistan in 2019. Jones is the sixth leading run-scorer for England in Women’s T20 World Cups, with 268 runs in 17 matches. In the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she completed the landmark of 1,000 T20I runs in the semi-finals against South Africa. She has played over 100 matches in the T20I format, scoring 1,500 runs, including five fifties. Jones has carried forward the legacy of England’s rich tradition of wicketkeeper-batters following Sarah Taylor’s retirement.

In July 2024, Amy Jones announced her engagement to Australia's rising fast bowler, Piepa Cleary. The couple met while playing together for the Perth Scorchers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Their engagement has been met with overwhelming support and congratulations from the cricket fraternity.

In November 2024, Amy Jones joined The Blaze for the 2025 season. The 31-year-old, who has been capped more than 200 times for England across all formats, joined the Trent Bridge-based side after four years with the Central Sparks. Jones' move sees her return to the East Midlands, having previously played for Loughborough Lightning—the side that was rebranded The Blaze and relocated from the Leicestershire market town to Nottinghamshire in 2022. Jones has scored more than 3,500 runs at international level and has nearly 500 dismissals across all three domestic formats. She is currently playing for Perth Scorchers in Australia's Women’s Big Bash League.

As of October 2024, ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Amy Jones expressed her readiness to contribute to the team. Reflecting on the weeks leading up to the tournament, she highlighted the importance of the UAE training camp for the squad. Jones emphasized the team's adaptability and the excitement surrounding the most open T20 World Cup yet. She expressed her goal to contribute when required and keep giving as much to the team as she can. Jones also discussed the team's aggressive approach to batting, focusing on taking the "positive option" within the strengths of individual players. She acknowledged the challenges of adjusting to the intense conditions in the UAE but remained confident in the team's preparation and adaptability.
